On September 20th, Western University of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy, held its annual Legislative Day. CSHP collaborated with fellow student organizations NCPA, Kappa Psi, AMCP and APhA to bring the latest legislative updates to our student pharmacists. Student pharmacist Tricia Tahara-Stoller was the MC of the event and introduced the guest speakers as well as engaged the audience throughout the event. The event was a great success, with over 330 students in attendance. Our guest speakers consisted of knowledgeable and experienced professionals: Jon Roth, Dr. Ken Thai, Dr. Lisa Lum, and Victor Law who highlighted the importance of student involvement in legislative affairs. Some of the topics discussed during the event were the “The PBM effect: CPhA’s Role“, “Legislation and Why Student Involvement Matters“, and “CSHP Legislative Priorities” Students were able to learn that their voice matters and that they can play a huge role in pharmacy law and regulations. This event would not be possible without the help of our generous sponsors: South Bay Long Beach Society of Health-System Pharmacists, San Gabriel Valley Pharmacists Association and Pax Pharmacy.
